Below is an interesting article from the Mortgage Bankers Association as it pergains to mortgage applications. On a positive note Grace Title has seen a slight uptick in the past week.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 25, 2012) — Mortgage applications decreased 5.0 percent from one week earlier, according to data from the Mortgage Bankers Association’s (MBA) Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey for the week ending January 20, 2012. The results include an adjustment to account for the Martin Luther King holiday.
The Market Composite Index, a measure of mortgage loan application volume, decreased 5.0 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis from one week earlier. On an unadjusted basis, the Index decreased 13.8 percent compared with the previous week. The Refinance Index decreased 5.2 percent from the previous week. The seasonally adjusted Purchase Index decreased 5.4 percent from one week earlier. The unadjusted Purchase Index decreased 9.7 percent compared with the previous week and was 6.5 percent lower than the same week one year ago.

The FHA, which traditionally does not insure homes that are bought and resold within 90 days, has extend a waiver to this rule. "This extension is intended to accelerate the resale of foreclosed properties in neighborhoods struggling to overcome the possible effects of abandonment and blight," said Acting Federal Housing Administration Commissioner Carol Galante.
